Dr. April Dawn Durning, DNP, FNP-C, ENP-C, has been caring for patients as a nurse practitioner for nearly 20 years. Born and raised in Crown Point, Indiana, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University before completing her Registered Nurse and Master of Nursing degrees at East Carolina University. She later earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Old Dominion University in 2019.
As the spouse of a U.S. Marine, Dr. Durning and her family have moved several times during her husband’s active-duty career. Her husband is now retired, and they have lived in New Bern, North Carolina, since 2004.
Dr. Durning is board-certified in Family Practice and Emergency Medicine. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive healthcare for patients of all ages. She currently practices at Med First in James City, where she welcomes new family medicine patients and also provides urgent care services.
