April Dawn Durning is a Doctor of Nurse Practice (DNP), born in Valparaiso, Indiana. She earned her RN and Master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC in 2008. After more than a decade of practicing in emergency medicine, in 2019, she obtained her Doctor of Nurse Practice from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.
Dr. April Durning is trained in family medicine and has an Emergency Nurse Practitioner Certification. Practicing medicine over the last two decades has resulted in expertise in managing acute and chronic conditions and patient safety and has brought excellent medical outcomes for her patients. She is also passionate about teaching students, new nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
Dr. Durning and her family have returned to their roots in New Bern, NC to enjoy the benefits of the small-town life where her children were born.
